SiMM Diode Array Performance Data

SiMMtec’s high power diode arrays use a patented, integrated silicon microchannel cooling process for optimal heat transfer and elimination at high drive currents. A QCW diode bar, with a 1 mm cavity length can be driven at peak currents greater than 200A, producing peak powers greater than 200W. A standard SiMMtec array uses 10 diode bars to produce greater than 2kW peak power in QCW mode at duty cycles exceeding 10%. Custom arrays can be configured to produce a range of wavelengths, output power, and the angle at which the laser light can be directed.

The characteristics of a typical array are shown in Fig. 1. The peak power exceeds 2kW with >54% efficiency, at 200A, under a 10% duty cycle operation. And Fig. 2 illustrates another diode array’s performance operating at a lower current.

All the data above is on both the physical aspects and performance of SiMMtec’s standard diode array. Actually array performance is dependent on the particular diode bar or optics used. Larger arrays can be produced by combining unlensed or lensed 10-bar diode arrays onto a single backplane as illustrated on the Products page of this site. One backplane can be populated with up to 64 individual, 10-bar diode arrays.
